Q1 and Q2

  Plan Q1 - Outline the theory for hall's representation theory in the first paragraph. After that then apply the theory to each of the set producsts. For example, you would outline how the theory works and how it can be applied to one of the sources, then state the limitations when it comes to using this theory. Then after you would talk about the theory for the other source and how it can be applied then you state the limitations of using this theory. After that, you will come up with a conclusion on how different social and cultural representations are being used. Q2 - Firstly, I would go macro and talk about the conventions of each type of newspaper and it's genre as a whole, for example the use of online and print news and it's conventions. After that, I would go micro where I talk specifically about the genre conventions for both sources (2 paragraphs, 1 for each source) whilst also giving specific media langauge. Explain how social and cultural contexts influence the ways newsbrands target their audience. The news industry has been a part of British tradition and with the sudden change in technology for most newspapers, more are becoming online due to a rapid change in technology and with that happening there is a massive decline in print news. This also means that there is becoming a cultural shift since the audience prefers to having online media and having expectations of entertainment within their websites such as moving pictures, videos or people speaking.  The Daily Mail, has been tackling this cultural shift since they are predominantly a print newspaper and not much of a online newspaper which makes it quite hard for them to adapt to this sudden change in technology. As well as that, they had have a massive decline in print circulation from around 1,200,000 in 2020 to 745,000 in 2023 which shows that online news is becoming more accepted than print newspaper showing that there is a ...
