Explain how social and cultural contexts influence the ways newsbrands target their audience. The news industry has been a part of British tradition and with the sudden change in technology for most newspapers, more are becoming online due to a rapid change in technology and with that happening there is a massive decline in print news. This also means that there is becoming a cultural shift since the audience prefers to having online media and having expectations of entertainment within their websites such as moving pictures, videos or people speaking.  The Daily Mail, has been tackling this cultural shift since they are predominantly a print newspaper and not much of a online newspaper which makes it quite hard for them to adapt to this sudden change in technology.  How does the advert use media language to convey their viewpoints and ideologies to help promote their product In the sports drink industry, typically they use media language to help convey their ideologies and viewpoints to help promote their product. These could be by product placement, the choice of athlete or celebrity, their position, their shot and so on. Which helps give a strong impression on what the audience is looking for and what they are buying into with their choice of media language. One way Gatorade uses media language in this advert to convey their viewpoints and ideologies to help promote their product is the choice of celebrity.  The choice of celebrity is Usain Bolt and since Usain Bolt is a runner, this suggests that this will give you energy once you drink this as you will be tired, but the ideology it wants to present is that if you drink this product you'll be like Usain Bolt and "stay ahead of the game" hinting that it enhances your game thus...

Old Spice question

How does the Old Spice advert effectively use a combination of convention and subversion to market the product? The old spice advert uses a combination of both convention and subversion to market the product as Old Spice is trying to make something new by using subversion such as using a more goofy and bright colour scheme as this advert doesn't convey the typical features of a fragrance advert, this could help use market the product as it is being portrayed as different and since Old Spice was a fragrance ad typically marketed for masculine and macho men, this goes against their norm since it does not convey convention. However Old Spice does also use conventional features to market the product, such as the product placement, celebrity endorsement, direct address and a traditional font, the product placement is used so that typically you look at the top left then move down to the bottom right. Celebrity endorsement is also used so that people will buy more of the fragr...
